Artie's
delivery vehicle circled the indistinct apartment building six times before he
found a parking space. Several minutes ago, he'd called the number the customer
had left when he'd placed the order. The fellow had said he'd meet him out
front of the building, but he was no where to be seen.
Artie pulled out the pizza--a vegetarian
selection with "just a little bit of cheese." He balanced it expertly
on his arm and made his way into the building. After pausing to check the
apartment number, he maneuvered the halls. The building was simply laid out and
he was soon at his destination.
The delivery boy knocked on the door. A voice
came from deep within. "Who is it?"
"Pizza delivery!"
"It's unlocked. Come in."
Artie entered the flat. Less than sixty seconds
later, he was back out the door, his payment scattering all over the halls. The
pizza delivery boy got in his car and, without checking traffic, zoomed away as
fast as he could. Cars swerved and honked, but Artie didn't care. He had seen
something scarier than aliens.
