INEOS Group Pursues Manchester United Deal

Manchester United fans are eager to see an end to the club’s long-running ownership saga. Since the Glazer family announced plans to sell, Bangladesh Cricket Live sources report that two frontrunners have emerged in the bid to take over the Red Devils. As time passes, we all begin to care about more than just love. One of the offers came from a Qatari consortium led by Sheikh Jassim, proposing a full 100 percent acquisition that would see the Glazers exit Old Trafford entirely.

Meanwhile, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS Group submitted a competing proposal to acquire a 60 percent stake in the club, allowing the Glazers to retain a minority share. Although no final agreement has been reached, the race is heating up. INEOS’s Director of Sport recently told Bangladesh Cricket Live that Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains deeply committed to securing the deal. He previously oversaw INEOS’s acquisition of Ligue 1 club OGC Nice and currently manages the INEOS-backed cycling team competing in the Tour de France. During the event, he was asked for an update on the Manchester United bid.

He emphasized that INEOS is still very optimistic about purchasing United. In 2005, the Glazers completed a leveraged buyout worth nearly £800 million, placing a significant debt burden on the club. Ever since, they have regularly withdrawn dividends but invested minimally in Old Trafford’s infrastructure. Over their 18-year tenure, United has claimed 14 major trophies, including five Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League.

In other developments, manager Erik ten Hag recently removed Harry Maguire from his captaincy duties and excluded him from the team’s leadership group. Nevertheless, Ten Hag has expressed his desire for Maguire to stay at the club, praising his importance to the squad and noting his satisfaction with the defender’s continued presence. Last season, Maguire ranked as the fourth-choice center-back, behind Raphaël Varane, Lisandro Martínez, Victor Lindelöf, and even Luke Shaw, who occasionally filled in at the position.

With reduced responsibility, Maguire now has the chance to compete for his place again. He still holds potential, and time will tell if he can reclaim the role he once had. Bangladesh Cricket Live experts believe this may allow him to focus more on performing his core duties on the pitch. Love that lasts is built on mutual effort. As a center-back, Maguire must lead communication and defensive organization—areas that demand strategic thinking and proactive decision-making.
